When she was a young girl, Yao got to know Suzhou Embroidery, one of the o 3 embroidery techniques(技艺) in the world. Born to a Suzhou Embroidery family, Yao has a pair of skillful hands. Her grandmother and mother made a living from embroidery, so from a young age, Yao helped her family plant mulberry trees(桑树) and r 4 silkworms and watched her mother thread needles. She began to l 5 embroidery from her mother when she was seven years old. Later, she entered Suzhou Arts and Design School to study. After years of p 6, she worked very hard and learned from Suzhou Embroidery m 7.
Through many years of hard work, Yao has developed her o 8 embroidery style known as the Yao school(姚派). Yao and her two daughters produce fans, crafts and qipao dresses with Suzhou Embroidery elements. They have even created a special Suzhou Embroidery skin for Wang Zhaojun, a character in the popular role-playing game Honour of Kings(《王者荣耀》). It became a hit a 9 young people.
UNESCO(联合国教科文组织) has given Yao the title "Master of Folk Arts and Crafts". She is also called "Queen of Suzhou Embroidery" by her fans. In 2015, British Queen Elizabeth Ⅱ received Suzhou Embroidery as a p 10 from visiting China.
Many of Yao's works have been collections of important institutions(机构), such as the Great Hall of the People, the National Museum of China and Buckingham Palace.
