In 2008,Li Dong xiao drove China's high−speed train for the first time,reaching 350
kilometres an hour,between Beijing and Tianjin.The journey is the beginning off the
development of the nation's high−speed railway network.
The number on Li's bullet train driver's licence(执照)is Ooo 1,which made people give
him the name of China's first bullet train driver.
“ I'm proud to see the historic changes in China's high−speed railway network over the past
18 years.The length of it has grown from zero to over 50,0 oo kilometres,” he said recently.
However,all those achievements came from hard work.In March 2008,Li,along with
some of China's best train drivers,was chosen to be trained to drive bullet trains.During test
runs of the Beijing−Tianjin High−speed Railway,he created a guidebook for bullet train drivers,

“ In 2008,Beijing had just one high−speed railway.Now,the high−speed railway network
has covered places across the country,” Li said.
