present of Beijing,the Qian men area is the perfect place to go..
Qian men Street is the main street in the Qian men area.The street was call led Z hengyang men
Street in history,but in 1965,it got the name Qian men Street.Walk along the street,and you can
find some time−honoured brands(老字号)like Quan jude and Duy i chu.
Along Qian men Street,there are many hu tong.And Dashi lan r is one of the must−visit
hu tong.The name “ Dashi lan r ” means “ big fence(围栏)”.The hu tong got this name because in
the past,there were big fences in the hu tong for safety reasons.Dashi lan r has many time−
honoured stores and one of the oldest cinemas in China−the Dagua n lou Cinema.The cinema
showed China's first film Ding jun Mountain in 1905.So,many people think of it as the
birthplace of Chinese films.
Not far away from Dashi lan r,there is a hu tong called Yang mei zhu Xie jie.The hu tong is
only 496 metres long,but it played an important role in the development of China's publishing
industry.The hu tong was home to several famous publishing houses many years ago.And
some famous people like Shen Con gwen and Lu Xun once lived in or liked to visit the hu tong.
