[2026 南通市海门区期末]The next morning was foggy. Everything on the farm was wet and gray. Wilbur stood waiting for his breakfast. He looked up and saw something that made his heart stop. There, in the centre of Charlotte's web, were two words: "SOME PIG!"
He was confused at first. "Some pig? Me?" he thought. Then a warm feeling spread through him. Charlotte, his clever friend, was keeping her promise! This was her plan to save his life.
Just then, Lurvy, the hired man, arrived with the slops. He poured them into Wilbur's trough(饲料槽), and then he saw the web. He dropped the pail(桶) in surprise.
"Zuckerman!" he shouted, running toward the house. "Mr Zuckerman! Come quickly!"
The farmer and his wife, Mrs Zuckerman, hurried to the pigpen. They stood and stared. "Some pig ..." Mr Zuckerman whispered. "It's a sign. This isn't an ordinary pig. This is a special pig."
The word spread from the house to the barn. Soon, the geese and the sheep all knew about it. By the time the morning fog began to lift, everyone on the farm had visited Wilbur's pen.
As the sun broke through, a wonderful thing happened. The tiny drops of dew(露水) on the web caught the light. The words "SOME PIG!" now shone brightly. It was more beautiful than any sign a human could paint.
The news did not stop at the farm fence. It travelled down the road. By afternoon, cars were lined up along the highway to see Wilbur and the magical web.
"See that?" Mr Zuckerman said proudly to a visitor. "That pig is completely out of the ordinary." For the first time, Wilbur saw a look of deep respect in the farmer's eyes, not just the look of a man seeing future bacon.
Charlotte, tired but happy, hid quietly in a corner of her web. Her plan was working. She had made people see Wilbur not as an animal, but as a wonder. And when you see something as a wonder, you don't think about killing it.
That evening, as Wilbur ate his extra-special dinner, he felt truly happy and safe. He had a true friend, and because of her, his world had changed forever.
