D(2026·盐城滨海期末)
Mole worked hard all morning cleaning his little house. He said “I’m tired of this! I want to see the outside world!” He ran up the tunnel(隧道) and out into the warm sunshine.
Soon he came to the river. It was wide and bright, like a moving mirror(镜子). A Rat with a big basket sat in a small blue boat.
“Hello!” Rat called. “Would you like a picnic?”
Mole’s eyes shone(发光). “I’ve never had a picnic by the river!”
Rat opened the basket. “There’s cold chicken, fresh bread, tomatoes and lemonade,” he said. “Let’s row(划船) to the middle; the water is smooth like glass today.”
They climbed in, but Mole did not know how to row. Splash! The boat turned round and round. Rat laughed kindly, took the oars(桨) and rowed them quickly to a quiet place. Dragonflies danced above the water and the sun smiled on them.
After lunch they sat on the grass. Rat talked about the river and his friends. Mole listened and felt very happy. “This is the life,” he thought, “just friends, food and fresh air.”
When the sun sank(下沉), they turned the boat homewards. Mole thanked his new friend very much.
“It’s nothing,” said Rat. “The river is always here, and so am I. Come again tomorrow.”
Mole walked back to his house happily. The river gave him a new hobby, a new friend and a perfect day.
