Every year, we celebrate a lot of festivals. But I'm sure you don't know this one—Radish(萝卜) Night. It is a special festival in Mexico. Traditionally, it takes place on December 23rd. On that day, people show their beautiful radish sculptures(雕塑) like small animals, famous people and great buildings. The radishes for sculpturing are usually very big.

So artists have to spend a lot of time on their works of art.
The first Radish Night was in 1897. At that time, there was a market on December 23rd. People usually went there to buy festival food and decorations(装饰品). To catch more shoppers' eye, some shopkeepers at the market decided to sculpture radishes to decorate their shops. To their surprise, the sculptured radishes were very popular. People loved them and wanted to buy them as festival decorations at home.
Radish Night lasts only a few hours because vegetables have a short life as artworks. So, if you want to
participate in the festival, you need to come early in the afternoon. There, you can not only see the radish art on the street but also taste delicious street food.
