Ouyang Xun was a famous calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty. He was one of the Four Great Masters of Regular Script. He loved learning calligraphy very much.
One day, he found a wonderful stone tablet with beautiful writing. He studied it carefully. He stood there to observe every detail, and even sat down to take notes. He spent a long time watching and learning from the tablet.
His hard work and careful observation made his calligraphy excellent.
Huai Su was a famous calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty too. People called him the “Sage of Cursive Script” because he was good at wild cursive.
He was poor and had no paper to practise. So he grew many plantain trees and wrote on their big leaves every day. He practised so hard that he used up many brushes and their tips were buried in a small hill. His hard work made his calligraphy lively and powerful.
