Can a Promise(承诺) Make Us More Honest?
Scientists did a study to see if making a promise can help people be more honest. They asked 21,506 people to play a game. People earned some money and reported how much they earned. They could lie without any punishment. Some people made an “honesty oath(誓言)” before reporting.
The results showed that making an oath increased(增加) honesty by about 4%. But not all oaths worked. Only clear and specific(具体的) oaths were effective(有效的).
