Yudron Lhamo, a girl from Xizang, is making her name in ski mountaineering(滑雪登山). This exciting sport appeared at the 2026 Winter Olympics for the first time.
When Yudron Lhamo was 13, she entered a sports school and started her sports training there. The training was very hard, but she never gave up.
In 2019, Yudron Lhamo was chosen for the cross-country skiing team because of her excellent performance. Three years later, she joined the national ski mountaineering team.
However, Yudron Lhamo didn't know much about this sport at first, even though she grew up near the snowy mountains.
“I used to know little about ski moun- taineering, and I found it difficult. But now I love skiing downhill. It feels like flying! Ski mountaineering has become my love,” Yudron Lhamo explained.
So far, Yudron Lhamo has won several medals（奖牌） for China in international competitions. “Competing against top inter- national athletes（运动员） makes me realize that I still need to improve my skiing skills,” she said.
Training far from home doesn't make Yudron Lhamo feel lonely. Instead, she feels more cheerful, because her teammates and coaches give her a lot of warmth. “The sport has really changed me for the better.
It has not just improved my physical health. What's more, I have become more outgoing thanks to
it,” she said. “My dream is to win honours（荣誉） for our country.”
