举一反三
(2026·浙江金华期末)Erkin is a 12-year-old boy. He has an artificial right leg. But when he plays basketball, he forgets about it. “I just want to play like everyone else,” he says.
Erkin was born in Shufu County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. He came into the world without part of his right leg. His parents were farmers. They didn’t know how to help him. As a child, Erkin often felt unhappy. “Walking was hard for me,” he said. He stayed indoors while other children played outside.
Everything changed when six-year-old Erkin watched a video of NBA star Stephen Curry. Erkin said, “Curry wasn’t the tallest or strongest, but he was great. So I thought, ‘I can play too.’”
His father bought him a used basketball, but playing was difficult at first. “I kept losing games and wanted to give up,” he said. “But I didn’t, and I told myself, ‘Real players never give up.’”
For years, Erkin practised hard on his home-made court(球场). He learnt to play smart. Soon, he made the school team. “Basketball wasn’t just a sport. It helped me find myself,” he said.
This summer, Erkin played in a national youth league(青年联赛). For the first time, he travelled beyond his hometown, and met many famous players. They said he was strong and brave.
Now, he dreams bigger, “I’ll keep playing. Maybe I can help someone else do the same.”
