China is quickly becoming the fashion capital. Thanks to social media and young customers, China is preferring to develop its own style—Chinese style. And there have been some achievements for the past few years. There is even a name for
it: China-Chic.
Maybe you have heard of it by chance. China-Chic is the result of young people’s interests in Chinese culture and things. It’s reported that 68 per cent of young Chinese, especially those between the ages of 20－25, say they prefer products made in China to those made abroad. They are now proud of “Chinese style”.
A 25-year-old vlogger(视频博主) named Cai Qian spent 15 days making a golden mask, which is really similar to the ancient mask found at Sanxingdui site in Sichuan. His video has drawn over 11 million viewers. And later, he recreated another thing from the same 3,000-year-old site. This made him get over 7 million viewers again.
One of the reasons why this is happening is the development of e-commerce(电子商务) and social media, which gives sellers a direct chance to communicate with their customers. Now people can learn about the Chinese styles and buy something which they are interested in easily.
So, what is China-Chic? Well, it’s bright and colourful. We will see more red and gold in China than in the fashion capitals of London, Paris and New York. And of course, there is the love of beauty which is deeply included in Chinese culture. I think China-Chic will become more and more popular around the world.
