School is about to be over. As the school year ends, we often try to make the most of our summer vacation to be able to start strong when school comes around again. So, what kinds of things can we do over the summer and how can we better prepare ourselves for the new school year? Here is some advice.
Learn a New Skill
Use the summer to learn a new skill. The skill should
be aligned with your interests so you can put your heart into it. Learning a new skill might not be useful now, but it may be something that will impact(影响) your life.
Give Back to Your Community
Volunteering(自愿做) is a great way to spend your summer. By volunteering you can not only get work experience and meet people from all walks of life, but also help others improve their life.
Spend Time with Friends
Go to do something fun and spend time with your friends. You can spend a day on the beach, go hiking together or spend a few days camping together.
Read for Fun
In the past school year you must have spent lots of hours reading textbooks. Now it’s time to read for fun. One of my favourite books is Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. If you like non-fiction(纪实文学), I’d recommend Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike by Phil Knight. Some books I’d also recommend to teenagers are The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
