When you're facing a challenge, do you like to find a way to overcome (克服) it, or just tell yourself there's no point trying? (1) (learn) to believe in yourself gives you confidence.

The summer holiday was fun and free. Sure, we had homework, but I thought, “Forty students? How could the teacher check every single paper?” So, I wrote the answers quickly: A, B, C, D, A, ... Then I forgot about it.
The morning of the first day of school passed peacefully. The head teacher gave a long speech and we held a class meeting. Everything seemed okay ... until 1 p.m. Our English teacher, Miss Grace, walked in, sat down, and started checking our homework.
My heart raced. I looked at the clock. One hour until school ended. Maybe she won’t reach mine? I thought. I stared at the clock and wished that time would go faster.
By 1:50 p.m., she had finished the paper before mine. Almost free. Then, she picked up mine, and turned the pages.
“Jack, come here, please,” she said. My legs felt weak.
She looked straight at me. “Why are these all wrong? You always get top marks.” My face felt hot. She handed back the paper. “Do this again. Hand it in today.”
I felt very sorry and went back to my seat. Page by page. Handing it back felt good ... until I saw the clock.
It was only 4 p.m. I was surprised. Doing the work properly (适当地) actually took less time than all the worrying!
“You got an A, Jack. Well done!” Miss Grace told me after she checked my paper.
