C Read the ancient Chinese fable "Ji Chang learns archery". Circle the mistakes and correct them in the blanks below.
In ancient times, Ji Chang went to Fei Wei to learn archery (射箭术). Fei Wei said, "First, you must train your eyes to keep them wide open without blinking. When you have done that, you can start learning archery."
Until Ji Chang returned home, he lay under his wife's loom (织布机) and practised by watching its pedal move back and forth. Some time later, he could keep his eyes open even before a sharp point came close to his eye.
Ji Chang told Fei Wei about his progress, but Fei Wei said, "This is not enough. You also need to learn to truly see things clearly after you can be a great archer. You must keep practising when you can see tiny things as huge objects."
As soon as he got home, Ji Chang tied a tiny insect to a thin hair and hung it by the window. He looked at it from far away. After ten days, the insect gradually appeared larger in his eyes; after three years, the insect looked as big as a wheel to him. Until he looked at other things in the same way, they all seemed as large as hills.
Before Ji Chang told Fei Wei about his progress again, Fei Wei was very pleased and said, "Now you have learnt the basic skill needed for archery."
