He put on sunscreen quickly.
They made sandcastles. Then they played in the water. Mia was happy. But Leo said, “The water is pulling(拖) me.” Dad ran to him. Leo was in a rip current(离岸流). The water there looked darker and moved fast. “Swim along the beach, not towards it,” Dad said. Leo did that. Soon, he was safe.
A lifeguard named Zoe came. She said, “Rip currents happen here. Stay calm and you can swim out.” She also told them about big waves that come fast. “Always swim with someone. Look after your friends and family,” she said.
They played in the safe place. They rested in the shade. They looked at the water. When the sun set, Mia smiled, “The beach is fun, but we must be safe.” Everyone agreed. If you are careful, a day at the beach can be fun and safe.
