The great Chinese writer, Mo Yan, is a winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature. He once wrote a letter to Chinese young people. Here is a part of the letter:

But I'd like to share two stories of my childhood. They are about a book and a man.
The book is Xinhua Dictionary. My family lived a hard life, and I had to drop out of school. Back then, children of my age were at school, learning and playing games together, but I didn't have that luxury（奢华）. 2.

Most of the words I knew didn't come from school. Instead, I learned them by reading Xinhua Dictionary, which helped me go through the hard times and prepared me for my writing career.

One day, I got caught in bad weather with Grandpa when we were on the way home with a handcart（手推车）of grass. A heavy storm was coming in our direction. I was pushed down to the ground and couldn't move. Grandpa, however, caught hold of the handcart.
In the strong wind, Grandpa's legs were shaking. 4.

Nor did the handcart. Although the grass was long gone at the end of the day, we still had the handcart.
So, my friends, don't lose heart. 5.

Even in the hardest situation, there is hope that encourages us to move forward.
