NIGHT MUSEUM
Have you ever spent a night at a friend's house? Now imagine staying all night in a museum. Sounds wonderful, right? That's the Big Night, a sleepover (夜宿) at our museum.
Usually, we visit museums during the day. But children are often wondering what a museum looks like at night. That's why we hold the special event for children aged 8-15. The Big Night starts at 6:30 on Saturday evening and finishes at 10:00 on Sunday morning. Remember to bring a flashlight (手电筒) and a sleeping bag. You can bring a tent too.

I was sitting in a station when I heard a woman seated behind me say, "What's the best present you ever got?" I closed the book and listened for an answer.
"Well," the young man said, "maybe the gold coin I got for graduation (毕业)."
"What?" Fighting off the idea to turn around and have a talk with the young man, I thought about the question. For me it was a high school graduation gift.
"Congratulations," my grandfather said.
"Wow," I said, "a spade (铁锹)?"
"Yes, it's a spade," he said, gently but surely. "Stay close to the land. Don't be afraid to dig (挖) in and get a little dirt on you."
"Oh, I won't," I said. I laughed at how it sounded. He didn't.
That autumn, I went off to college and that spade stayed untouched in my parents' home. Later, I got a job and had a family. And that spade made its way from my parents' house into mine. I dug gardens and planted trees. The spade was nothing but a tool. I was glad to have it.
Then years passed by. The seasons came and went. So did jobs, and our two kids. The house stayed. And the spade too.
Now, 40 years after I got the gift, I still dig hard into the earth, more often than ever. It's more than a friend. It's a reminder of my family. If I got a gold coin that day, I would have spent it. But a useful tool with a message about staying close to the earth? Priceless.
A few months from now, my daughter will finish school. I have something to give her before she moves away. And of course, when she opens it, she will say, "Wow, a ▲?"
