Cooking is a way of learning. When students learn about foods around the world and the stories behind the dishes, they are part of the world. They learn history and culture in a new way. When making sandwiches, they put 2 pieces of bread on the plate and see that vegetables stay fresh(新鲜的) longer if they're not cut too early, and they learn science.
Cooking classes show students that they can learn from their
mistakes. Li Mei learned this when she cooked her first cake badly in class. Her teacher said, "Don't worry. Mistakes help us learn." They talked about it together and found the mistakes. Then Li Mei cooked a cake again carefully. Her new cake came out perfect!
Cooking makes students work with classmates. In a cooking class, students work together. Everyone has a job and they help each other. When groups work well, the food tastes better! Cooking shows that teamwork makes things easier and more fun.
