When you wake up at night with worries going through your head, it can be hard for you to fall back to sleep. Knowing what to do can help you when worries stop you from sleeping.
It can feel like you're the only person lying awake with thoughts going around your head in the middle of the night,
but it's usual. Worrying at night feels uncomfortable, so it's important that you're kind to yourself. Think about what will help you. That could be waking up an adult to tell him or her about your worries.
By paying attention to your body instead of your thoughts, your brain can calm down. One way to do this is to get comfortable in bed, then focusing your attention on your feet. Next, move your attention up to your lower legs, then to your body until you get to the top of your head.
If you get to the top of your head and you still can't fall asleep, change positions to make you comfortable again, and then slowly do the same exercise, from head to feet. This exercise takes time and you have to really pay attention, so it can help your brain stop worrying, and then you can fall asleep slowly.
