The Double Ninth Festival is a traditional Chinese festival with a long history. It falls on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month. In the I Ching (《易经》), the number nine stands for yang energy. Since there are two nines on this day, people call it the Double Ninth Festival.
People have many traditional activities at this festival. Families go climbing, admire chrysanthemums (菊花) and eat tasty Chongyang cakes. People also wear dogwood branches (茱萸枝) to wish for good health.
