30th March is the International Day of Zero Waste (国际无废日). In 2025, a special marathon took place in Qidong. Some green medals (环保奖牌) for the marathon were very special. They were made from plastic bottle caps! These medals reminded (提醒) people to protect the sea and sea life.
There were many plastic caps on the beach. A group of people went to the beach many times. They picked up the caps, cleaned them, and turned them into medals. Each medal was made from fifteen caps. They made some other small gifts with the waste caps too.
“We want to tell people to take care of the sea in this way,” said Mr Ji from the group. “We also want to show that waste things can be very useful.”
Sports and helping the Earth can go together. Small things can help our Mother Earth.
