This piece of music was written by a

musician named Abing. His father was a Taoist in Wuxi and taught him to play

musical instruments. Abing was very talented and became a famous musician himself.
However, his life was full of misfortunes (不幸). In his thirties, he became seriously ill and

his eyesight. To make a living, he walked through the city’s narrow streets and tea houses, playing his music for anyone who would

It was during this

time that he created “Moon Reflected on the Second Spring”. This piece sounds like a deep sigh (叹息). It tells of the hardship of his life, but also of the

For many years, Abing’s music was known

in his local area. It wasn’t until 1950, shortly before his death, that two famous music professors from Beijing recorded his performance. This recording saved his music for the world.
