My heart(内心) is full of feelings, big feelings and small feelings, loud feelings and quiet feelings, quick feelings and slow feelings. My heart is like a house, with all these feelings living inside.
Sometimes, my heart feels strong. I stand up tall, as if I can touch the clouds. New people and places don’t frighten(令……害怕) me. I can do it! Watch me go!
On hard days, unkind words hurt my feelings, and my heart feels hurt too. What do I do to feel good? I need more hugs. But my heart doesn’t stay sad for long. Just as spring comes after winter, the sun rises again. My heart grows tall, like a plant(植物) reaching toward the sky.
When I see something scary(令人害怕的), my heart beats(跳) fast. I feel cold, and I run away as fast as I can ...
My heart can feel so many feelings, and yours can too!

An old man lives in a small village. His name is Leo. Leo is blind, but he sees the world with his heart. People call him Wise Leo because he always knows the right words to say.

A boy called Sam doesn’t believe. He catches a bird. He thinks, “If Leo says it’s alive(活着), I’ll crush(压死) it. If he says it’s dead, I’ll let it fly. Then everyone will see he’s not so wise!”

Sam stands before Leo. He is so excited. He asks loudly, “Old man, I have a bird in my hands. Tell me if it’s alive or dead.” The villagers(村民) feel bad. They know it is a trick(诡计).

Leo does not answer right away. He speaks softly, “My dear child, whether the bird lives or dies is not in my words. It is in your hands.”

Sam’s face turns red. He feels sad. He looks down at his hands. Slowly, he opens his fingers. The bird flies into the sky. Leo says, “Remember:
Your destiny(命运) is like this bird. It is always in your own hands.”
