B Read the adapted excerpt from Peter Pan about learning to fly. Complete it with the sentences from the box. Write the correct letters in the blanks below. There is one extra sentence.
a But they are not afraid of falling.
b He followed birds that had food in their mouths suitable for humans.
c Certainly they did not pretend to be sleepy.
d They flew for days and days.
e He also liked a change.
f There he goes again!
Peter flew off with John, Michael, and Wendy following him. (1)

Sometimes it was dark and sometimes light. They were very cold and again too warm. They liked to pretend (假装) they were hungry because Peter had a new way of feeding them. (2)
He would then take the food from them.
(3)
They were sleepy; and that was a danger, for the moment they fell asleep, down they fell. The awful thing was that Peter thought this funny.
(4) “
” he would cry, as Michael suddenly dropped like a stone.
“Save him! Save him!” cried Wendy, looking with fear at the sea far below. At last, Peter would fly through the air and catch Michael just before he could hit the sea. It was lovely the way he did it. But he always waited till the last moment, and you felt he was more interested in being clever than saving a human life. (5)

Something that interested him one moment would suddenly stop being fun. But that meant he might not be there to catch you when you fell.
C Read the article about Charlie Chaplin. Complete the timeline with the information
C Read the article about Charlie Chaplin. Complete the timeline with the information from the article.
You may not know his name at first, but you might have seen his face. He is a small man wearing a small hat and a tight coat. His shoes and trousers are too big, and
he has a toothbrush moustache. He has a funny walk with his stick in his hand, and though his life seems sad, he is always cheerful and full of hope. We all call this character the "Little Tramp" (小流浪汉). The man who created and played him was Charlie Chaplin, a star so famous that we still talk about him now.
Chaplin was born into a poor family in London in 1889. With no father and a mother in a mental hospital, he took to the stage to support himself as a teenager. By the time he was 16, he was already a promising stage actor. By 1910, he was a well-known comedy star in England. The next step was Hollywood. He went there when he was 24. Within a year, he was famous around the world, and he began to write and direct his own films.
Perhaps his most famous work was The Gold Rush (1925). All of Chaplin’s early films were silent. When the silent era ended around 1930, he had trouble getting used to talking pictures and made only a few films. But the films he made—such as Modern Times (1936)—are often considered the greatest films ever made.
In 1952, he travelled to England to present Limelight. However, when he tried to return to his home in America, the US government refused to let him in, so he moved to Switzerland. By then, he was almost retired and no longer made many films. Yet, he longed to return to the US and receive recognition for his work. This happened in 1972 when he was allowed to travel to the US again and accept an Oscar. He died in Switzerland in 1977.
