If you ask Generation Z what is popular now in China, they will probably say, “The new Chinese style”. The new Chinese style is all about bringing traditional Chinese looks and modern fashion together.
Know More
“Generation Z” stands for people born during late 1990s and early 2000s. They are greatly influenced(影响) by technological things such as the internet, text messages, smartphones and computers.

For example, the horse-face skirt is a kind of traditional Chinese skirt. Few people knew much about it in the past. However, according to Lin Qi, a maker of horse-face skirts in Guangdong, she sells more than 100,000 horse-face skirts a year. She says most of the buyers are young people.
Generation Z in China likes the new Chinese style because it is a mix of traditional Chinese looks and modern styles. On the one hand, designers keep traditional parts. On the other hand, they use modern materials(布料) and new ways of making clothes.
Xue Yadi, born in 2000, loves how the new Chinese-style clothes look and feel. “Wearing these clothes gives me a sense of pride,” she says. Like Xue Yadi, many people not only buy these clothes but also value the culture and beauty. They are proud of the cultural heritage(文化遗产).
