Every country has its own features. One thing that visitors to the UK always notice is how
good British people are at waiting, especially in lines. Everywhere in the UK, it's common to
see lines: at bus stops, in shops and in cinemas.
Kate Bradley, a teacher at the University of Kent, said that waiting in line in the UK isn't
simply about showing politeness to other people. British people like everything to be in perfect
order, so pushing the way before someone in a line is something that most Brits try to avoid.
Actually, it is a tradition started during World War Ⅱ. At that time, people had to wait in
line to get things like food in shops. The government was worried that trouble and disorder
would happen. So, people were told that waiting in line politely and patiently was a British
thing to do. And that message is still alive today.
There is probably only one thing that will influence people's willingness to stand
patiently in line—the weather, which can change quickly in the UK. One minute it can be fine
and sunny and the next it can be wet and windy. When the weather is bad, they only hope the
bus can arrive very soon, or people lining up for food will give up and leave.
If someone decides not to follow the rule in bad weather, most Brits will speak up and tell
the line-jumper to get to the back of the line.

1. 第1题:题干询问英国人喜爱排队的主要原因,定位到原文第二段内容“waiting in line in the UK isn't simply about showing politeness to other people. British people like everything to be in perfect order”,可知英国人友善懂礼貌,同时偏好所有事物都井然有序,完全匹配D选项。
3. 第3题:题干询问坏天气里有人插队时英国人的感受,定位到倒数第二段内容“If someone decides not to follow the rule in bad weather, most Brits will speak up and tell the line-jumper to get to the back of the line”,英国人会直接出声制止插队者,由此可推断他们此时会感到生气,对应D选项。
1.D 2.A 3.D 4.C
