Tong Dizhou: a scientist who tried his best
Tong Dizhou was a famous Chinese scientist. When he was young, he was not good at study. In his first term, he only got 45 on average. The headmaster asked him to leave the school. Tong begged to stay, and the school let him try for one term.
Tong worked very hard. He got up early and read under a street light. At night, he still studied. After half a year, he caught up with his classmates. He got 100 in Maths. He said to himself, “If I try my best, I can do it.”
Years later, Tong Dizhou studied in Europe. He did a difficult experiment—to take off the skin of a frog’s egg. The professor asked students to do it but they failed. Tong was not afraid. He tried and he succeeded(成功). The professor said, “You are so talented!”
